Sundials have always fascinated me, and I was delighted some years ago when I discovered I wasn't alone. The British Sundial Society currently has about 600 members, of which I am one, and it has a younger transatlantic cousin in The North American Sundial Society. Some of the members of the British organisation produce dials displaying superlative craftsmanship - for example, look at the wonderful work of John Davis and of Tony Moss. My first sundial was made in 1974, and here is a picture of it with my oldest son who is now 35 years of age and a father himself. Under the tutelage of the above two gentlemen, and of Tony Moss in particular, I've been able to improve on that initial effort, and now make sundials on a semi-commercial basis.
